Education & Empowerment

We're dedicated to enhancing higher education through community-based resources. Our initiatives include the annual World Class Scholarship Program to support the higher education of our customers; the September 11th Memorial Scholarship for the children of Mediacom employees, and the Mediacom Entrepreneur of Tomorrow Award for graduating high school seniors in Orange County, NY.

We also support minority interests in media through the Emma Bowen Foundation. Our Video-on-Demand system offers Iowa digital subscribers GED coursework and test prep, and our internship program provides local students with valuable professional experience.

Fostering Philanthropy

At Mediacom, you'll find a rich history of philanthropic giving in the spirit of community partnership. Our ongoing, company-wide Food Drives and American Red Cross Blood Drives contribute life-saving supplies to critical relief efforts.

We also take pride in our annual fundraising efforts for breast cancer awareness, contributing to the American Cancer Society every year since 2009 as part of our company-wide commitment.

For the past decade Mediacom has been raising funds for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. In 2024 Mediacom ranked first among 283 teams in the Making Strides of Hudson Valley Walk with over $37,000 donated to the American Cancer Society.

Mediacom is thrilled to provide airtime for the people and communities that continue to support our service. MC22, our exclusively local channel, provides a space for in-state production teams to develop programming focused on the voices of our communities. We offer complimentary programming for local sports, including the Hawkeye Network, the Cyclone Network, and the MC22 Student-Athlete Spotlight.

The New York Office conducts biannual collections for Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc. This incredible non-profit organization provides shelter and comprehensive services to victims and survivors of interpersonal violence, human trafficking, sexual violence, and other types of crime victimization.

It's our mandate not just to provide services for our communities, but also to step up and act when natural disasters strike. Mediacom honors tornado restoration efforts with a donation of $10,000 to Feeding Kentucky. After devastating tornadoes tore through the Bluegrass State. Feeding Kentucky serves all 120 counties within the state providing a support network to over 800 local food pantries and shelters.

Giving Back to the Community

The New York Office conducts biannual collections for Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc. This incredible non-profit organization provides shelter and comprehensive services to victims and survivors of interpersonal violence, human trafficking, sexual violence, and other types of crime victimization.
Mediacom Communications and Discovery Inc. teamed up to help 55 Des Moines high school students find the perfect prom look by hosting an in-person “shopping day” that allowed each student to select and receive a new prom dress, along with monetary support and pre-paid tickets to attend their high school proms later in April 2022. The SAY YES TO THE PROM event was held at the Burt Boys and Girls Club on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines.
Mediacom was named a Hunger Hero by United Food Bank of Mesa, AZ in 2022 for the active role taken in the fight to end hunger. As an organization Mediacom donated more than $100,000 to food banks nationwide in just 18 months.
According to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, 1 in 6 Americans faced food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mediacom committed $100,000 to combat hunger in our nation in 2020. “As a company, we are fortunate to serve 1,500 small and mid-sized cities and towns across 22 states. I know I speak for all of our employees when I say how important it is to help our friends and neighbors in these communities during their time of need.” said Mediacom Founder, Chairman and CEO, Rocco B. Commisso.
Mediacom is a recipient of Content & Creativity Human Resources (C2HR) 2021 Social Impact Award. The award focused on how corporations’ social responsibility responded to the unique circumstances of the COVID pandemic. Mediacom donating a total of $100,000 to foodbanks nationwide in December 2020, expanded the accessibility of broadband services to low-income families with K-12 students through the Connect2Compete program, helping more than 10,000 families stay connected to schools during the pandemic.
